The town of Cesky Krumlov has 300 historic houses, a chateau and castle, all on the UNESCO heritage list. The castle of Cesky Krumlov is one of the most important historic sites in Central Europe. The fairytale red-roofed castle is surrounded by landscaped gardens, and features grand courtyards, halls and furnishings. The castle's development over the 14th to 19th centuries has been well preserved. The mighty castle complex stands on a rock promontory sculpted by the Vltava River, dominating the attractive medieval town below.
